Boo Shot

Don’t look the other way…

  • 2 cl Malibu
  • 2 cl Milk

Directions:

Shake ingredients with ice. Pour into shot Glass.

Garnish:

Notes:

It had to be white, so milk was obvious for me, the rest was just testing if it fitted together.

Mario – Super Mario Shot

Super Mario Shot

“It’s-a me, Mario!”

  • 1 cl Grenadine
  • 1 cl Blue Bols
  • 1 cl Tequila silver

Directions:

Grenadine first. Then pour Bols – slowly! – Over a bar spoon. Tequila goes on top.

Garnish:

Notes:

I choose tequila here for the same reason why I choose Bols kiwi in the “Mario and Luigi Shots”, to counter the sweetness of the grenadine.

Big Mario and Luigi Shot

“We can fix anything if there’s spaghetti involved!”

  • 1 cl Grenadine
  • 1 cl Kiwi Bols
  • 1 cl Vodka

Directions:

Grenadine first. Then pour Bols – slowly! – Over a bar spoon. Vodka goes on top.

Garnish:

Notes:

The idea here was that they got their mushroom and got big. So I added Vodka for more alcohol and for not having a big effect on the taste of the other ingredients.

Mario – Little Mario and Luigi Shot

Little Mario and Luigi Shot

“Here we go!!!”

  • 1 cl Grenadine
  • 1 cl Kiwi Bols

Directions:

Grenadine first. Then layer Bols – slowly! – over a bar spoon.

Garnish:

Notes:

The idea was to have both brothers in one shot. Their colors are Red and Green, so it limited me to a few liqueurs at that time in the bar. For layering the rule is to start off with the ingredient that has most sugar and then go upwards. Grenadine is a syrup, so it has lot of sugar.  The sourness of the Kiwi Bols does a decent job balancing out the sweetness of the Grenadine, so that is why I choose to go with that liqueur

1-up

Because you only live twice

  • 1 cl Melon Bols
  • 1 cl Vodka
  • 1 cl Milk
  • Whipped cream

Directions:

SHAKE the first 3 ingredients with ice and strain into shots Glass. Add whipped cream and frosting on top.

Garnish:

Green frosting

Notes:

This one I started with the looks. So I knew that it would have Whipped cream on top. That there would be green spots and that it had to be in a shots Glass. The rest of the ingredients were decided upon at the same time I tested combinations to “Big Boo”

Big Boo

Frighteningly delicious

  • 2 cl Malibu
  • 2 cl Pineapple juice
  • 1 cl Lime juice
  • 4 cl Milk
  • 1 spoon Powdered sugar

Directions:

SHAKE the first 3 ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled Glass

Garnish:

Notes:

This one was hard to make, I started out with making the Boo shot, so I knew that I wanted to have Malibu and milk in the mix. The rest took a lot of experimenting to get it right.

Goomba

Oddly satisfying

  • 2 cl Baileys
  • 1 cl Peach Bols
  • 1 cl Amaretto
  • 2 cl Bols Cacao Brown
  • 2 cl Whipped cream

Directions:

SHAKE the first 4 ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled Glass. Top-up with Whipped cream

Garnish:

Notes:

This one was inspired from the drink “Cream
Cake”, where I added cacao brown to add to the color and also to give it more a chocolate cake taste.

Mario – Bowser

Bowser

“[Mario] always defeats me… This time I
became invincible and I STILL couldn’t beat him!”

  • 2 cl Tequila
  • 1 cl Coin-treau
  • 5 cl Orange juice
  • 1 cl Grenadine

Directions:

SHAKE the first 3 ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled Glass, pour grenadine into drink

Garnish:

Blood orange wedge

Notes:

This one was hard. It was the last one I did
that day for the Mario Theme. It had to match the colors, but also his spirit. I altered the Tequila-Sunrise and added some Cointreau into the mix, which gives the whole drink a smoother taste.

Princess Peach

“Peachy!”

  • 2 cl Southern Comfort
  • 2 cl Peach Bols
  • 5 cl Cranberry juice
  • 2 cl Lime juice

Directions:

SHAKE all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled Glass.

Garnish:

Peach wedge and pink umbrella

Notes:

The Idea was to make it pink, and it has to have a peachy taste. I took inspiration from the ‘Southern Peach’ and “Scarlet O’Hara”.

Yoshi

Fruity, tongue-pleasing cocktail

  • 2 cl Sour Apple liqueur
  • 1 cl Melon Bols
  • 1 cl Lime juice
  • 4 cl Apple juice

Directions:

Shake. Serve with ice.

Garnish:

Two lime wedges

Notes:

Loosely inspired by the ‘Apple & Melon Martini’. The Yoshi was so popular that we’re adding it to our normal drink list!
